Hab EL/ALASSAAD-BADER is a fractional executive and writer orienting the communities around him for whole-systems-transformation... at this time of great change. His opines on the protracted 2023 economic situation are currently undergoing publication. Northern Californian-raised and third-culture-lensed, he intercesses to progressive families and technological legacies in Europe, the Middle East, United States, and Africa, while governing on entrepreneurial boards spanning the private, public, and nonprofit sectors… thereby globally weighting younger teams designing our future, with a particular emphasis on protecting our water, health, and technical-talent resources.
Enabling society's aging institutions to reconfigure through introducing transparent responsibility and new models is a recurring theme in Hab’s career. Following formative mentorship from GE and Andersen Consulting senior talents, and commercial sales & corporate philanthropy tenures at publicly traded titans like ORACLE, GM, Motorola spanning 66 countries between 2001 and 2011, Hab forayed into finance as founding syndicator of a pre-DeFi challenger-bank (Oryx Secondary), which failed as it preceded necessary disruptions by blockchain. He was among the early forerunners of Dubai’s nascent 2010-2015 startup scene as a vested maker and community-convener in the non-profit Impact Hub network... a frenzy of 20,000 sustainability innovators in 80 cities which rotate to host gatherings, such as the annual Unlikely Allies Summit. The 7,500 sq.ft Impact Hub Dubai he co-started and vice-chaired emerged as the 1st legally licensed incubator in its nation, launching the 1st Emirati accelerator in collaboration with its Department of Economic Development, hosting 1st-ever official events in its wider region by innovative transnational platforms (Global Shapers, Bitcoin Association, UN Foundation, U.Lab, Pioneers Festival, eBay, Magento, the International Committee for Journalists), and delivering mentorship to the Emirates Foundation’s Awards for Gulf Youth social entrepreneurs.
With thanks to the scaling efficiencies of such multinationals and advances in impact-measurement, Hab carries a personal triple-bottom-line of $550M in total Profit stewarded (inclusive of indirect socioeconomic value), 132,000 People trained for employment, and a 4.2 gha-biohectare Planetary footprint where the average is greater than 10.
As its Executive Director, the AFAQ Group for General Investment he established in 2015 custodies the personal estate and chattels of a diplomatic principal, with a reputational-equity portfolio of ethically allocated positions to further innovation abroad that is existential to its locale. It also maintains a set of operational vehicles to facilitate strategic world continuity, including LMM General Trading for sustainability products, the Teknix contractor for technical projects, and the re-educational service provider Irtiqa Human Development… aligning with likeminded families and their companies abroad, and working with local government bodies to steward regulatory permits, security clearances, land, IP, talent, operational infrastructure, and representation, for risk mitigation and return acceleration of FDI.
The firm's matriarchical Principal's family, descending of the grand Bani Yas tribe for generations (originating circa Abu Dhabi), are renowned for their piety, judgment, poetry, and knighthood, and had been entrusted a significant role in the unification of the Trucial States to form the United Arab Emirates (U.A.E.). Their seed of wisdom continues today through marital consort with members of the contemporary Al Maktoum line, globally reputed following the visionary leadership of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, the Vice President, Minister of Defence, and Prime Minister of the UAE, Emir (Ruler) of Dubai, and Chairman of the Investment Corporation of Dubai (ICD).
In 2019, besides a turnaround of Canada's Revitalife as Chief Operating Officer, Hab has been a Managing Director at MIRAKI Innovation, a Harvard Square-based I.P. commercialization firm for whom he arranged the Principal's auspices, to link the U.S. and Gulf health R&D ecosystems into a network... making miraculously lifesaving DoD grant- and private capital- funded medical devices (from blood filtration and cold slurries to surgical robots and imaging A.I.) publicly accessible, commoditizing current previous-gen technology and thus reducing cost of care to the ill-stricken. The leadership behind MIRAKI gained accolades for having originated what became the first, only, and largest unicorn in medtech to date, Auris-J&J: $5.7B. Today, Hab takes this experience on secundment to Nabta Health as Chief Commercial Officer, and service to both mass-public and local boards... like Planets Montessori Nurseries, the U.S. 501(c)3 When We Band Together, and Brighter AB of Sweden (NASDAQ OMX: BRIG). Avocationally authoring analyses on economic resources and digital assets and experimenting through the Kx2 Programme for Societal Resiliency to Whole-Story-Change (his test-bed for post-COVID19 & post-COP28 scenarios).
Other past affiliations range from the UN Global Alliance for ICT & Development, Medcap Funds, 3BL Holdings, Alliance of Civilisations, Change Facilitation Associates Network, Hivos Mideast Creatives, Mudara-Hawkamah Institute of Corporate Governance, Alternative Direct Investment and Securities Association, Project Management Institute, American Marketing Association, and the Zayed University National Advisory Council.
Scholastically, an avid proponent of the classical humanities and the spirit of benevolent venturing, Hab was an inceptional participant of the 1st INSEAD Social Entrepreneurship Programme (2006), the 1st awardee outside the United States of Board of Directors grant from the Electronic Document Systems Foundation, and an A.U.S. Pioneers ring recipient by HH Sheikh Dr. Sultan Al-Qasimi (Ruler of Sharjah).
Following childhood schooling in Monterey, California, Hab regarded the populous deserts of Dubai, Riyadh, and Black Rock City as domiciles of young adulthood, and is presently agnostic to physical any location worldwide... valuing minimalist mobility over nationalist nobility. Recreationally, Hab is a novice instrumentalist of the Mediterranean zither (tabletop lyre). He co-parents together with his wife to their own single kin among those of their friends and homeschooling pod.
